Career Profiles: Registered Dietitian

What do they do?

Dieticians integrate and apply the principles derived from the sciences of food, nutrition, biochemistry, physiology, food management and behavior to achieve and maintain the health status of the public they serve. 

Where do they work?

Hospitals, nursing homes, public and home health agencies, health and recreation clubs and government funded programs, universities or food and pharmaceutical companies.

Educational Requirements

Requirements are variable depending on the educational program chosen.  Most require master's degree work as well as a clinical internship.
