Gastrointestinal cancers are cancers of the digestive tract, and are the most common group of cancers in the United States. Our goal at St. John Providence Health System is to provide the most comprehensive and current surgical evaluation and medical treatment to patients with gastrointestinal cancers. We follow guidelines based on the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) to improve outcomes, and use a multidisciplinary approach to determine the optimal treatment plan for each patient.
Your Multidisciplinary Assessment
Cancer is a complex disease that can be treated in many ways. To ensure that our patients receive the best care possible, a multidisciplinary team of dedicated specialists meets weekly at a Tumor board and collaborates to assess each case and recommend an optimal treatment for each patient. Patients are contacted immediately, once a plan is formulated. Treatment is initiated within two weeks of diagnosis for all patients seen.
