The department will purchase either textbook for the RI. Any other text will need the approval of the Program Director.
- Additional textbooks provided to the residents by the department of Internal Medicine have included:
- Marriott’s Textbook on ECG
- Kammerer's Medical Consultation
- Handbook of Commonly Prescribed Drugs
- Starting in Medical Practice and others.
- Board Review Course
The Department will pay tuition for the OHEP Board Review Course, held for one week every June. The RIII’s may take this course.

Yearly Schedules
All rotations are one month long. All Internal Medicine services change on the first day of the month.
R-I Year
- Gen. Internal Medicine Wards — 3-4 months
- Nephrology Floor — 1 month
- Anesthesia — 1 month
- Cardiology Floor — 1 month
- Medical ICU — 1 month
- Coronary ICU — 1 month
- Outpatient Medicine — 1 month
- Emergency Medicine — 1 month
- Practice Based Improvement — 1 month
- *Vacation — 3 weeks
*Vacation may be taken in one-week increments from Outpatient Medicine, Clinical Skills, Anesthesia months or in a single three week block.
R-II Year
- Gen. Internal Medicine Wards — 2-3 months
- Nephrology Floor — 1 month
- Medical ICU Nights — 1 month
- Cardiac ICU Nights — 2 weeks
- Cardiac ICU days — 2 weeks
- Ambulatory Medicine — 2 months
- Electives — 4 months
- *Vacation — 3 weeks
- Conference — 5 days
*Vacation can be taken on any non-ward/unit month.
R-III Year
- Staff Service — 2-3 months
- Medical ICU — 1 month
- Cardiac ICU — 1 month
- Medical Consults/Geriatrics — 1 month
- Outpatient Clinic — 1 month
- Senior Nights — 1 month
- Electives — 3-5 months
- *Vacation — 3 weeks
- Conference — 5 days
*Vacation can be taken during Medical Consults (1 week only) or any elective month.
