Many people with traumatic brain injuries turn to complementary and alternative medicine therapies in addition to their regular medical care. But most of these patients don't discuss the therapies with their physicians, say researchers at the University of Michigan. These patients most commonly use massage therapy and chiropractic care for pain relief, meditation to reduce stress and herbal medicine for memory problems. More than 80 percent of patients believe these therapies are effective, even though there has been minimal medical assessment of them.
