Inpatient care is provided at Providence Hospital in Southfield in a unit specially designed for people with cancer. Providence’s oncology unit boasts private rooms laid out in a soothing environment.
Providence’s oncology nurses abide by a family-oriented philosophy designed to empower and support patients and their loved ones. They adhere to the standards established by the National Oncology Nursing Society and several are certified by the Oncology Nursing Society. Specially trained nurses are able to administer chemotherapy and biotherapy conveniently on the unit.
A designated oncology pharmacist ensures effective, safe delivery of state-of-the-art chemotherapy and other medications. Assigned only to patients with cancer, the oncology pharmacist also helps to monitor possible drug interactions.
