St. John Physical Rehabilitation Services

Dr. RyanDr. Ryan is a graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Detroit Medical Center and was chief resident of the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan. Dr. Ryan is Medical Director for the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at St. John. He is also a clinical assistant professor for the department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at St. John. He is the current president of the Michigan Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and a member of the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine. He is a fellow of the following medical organizations:

  • American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
  • American Assocation of Acedemic Physiatrists American Academy of Disability Evaluating Physicians
  • American Acdemy of Electrodiagnostic Medicine Physiatric Association of Spine, Sports and Occupational Rehabilitation.
Physical Rehabilitation Specialists

Post-Polio Clinic RehabilitationSt. John Providence Health System provides an extensive network of rehabilitation specialists. Our therapists have advanced degrees, and write as well as teach in their profession. Rehabilitation services including physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech language pathology are offered at the Post-Polio Clinic.

Neurologist

A physician who provides treatment for diseases and disorders of the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves.

Orthotist

A highly trained clinician who is educated in evaluating and developing custom orthopedic appliances.

Geriatric Social Worker

A master’s degreed clinical social worker specializing in providing information and referral services for seniors. Among services offered are: determination of appropriate level of care, planning for future needs and coordinating needs with families of older adults, including accessing long-distance caregiver resources.

For our patients’ convenience, consultations with our experts will be offered during one carefully coordinated visit, in our Shelby Township offices. Following initial evaluations, the Post-Polio Clinic specialists will talk with one another and cooperatively develop an individual health management program.
