St. John Pediatrics - Neonatal Intensive Care and Special Nursery

John T. Adams, MD

Dr. Adams is board certified in Pediatrics and Neonatal/Perinatal Medicine. He graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. He completed his residency in Pediatrics at St. John Hospital and his fellowship in Neonatal/Perinatal Medicine at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Society of Michigan Neonatologists. He has special interests in respiratory care of the newborn and physician training/teaching.



Renato S. Casabar, MD

Dr. Casabar is board certified in Pediatrics and Neonatal/Perinatal Medicine. He graduated from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines. He completed his Pediatric residency at Mt. Carmel Mercy Hospital in Detroit, Michigan and a fellowship in Neonatal/Perinatal Medicine at Wayne State University Medical School/Children?s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit, Michigan. He is a member of the Perinatal/Neonatal section of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Society of Michigan Neonatologists. He has a special interest in neonatal pulmonary function testing and newborn respiratory care.



Maria L. Duenas, MD

Dr. Duenas is board certified in Pediatrics and Neonatal/Perinatal Medicine. She graduated from Central University of Ecuador School of Medicine. She completed her Pediatric residency at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan and her fellowship in Neonatal/Perinatal Medicine at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Society of Michigan Neonatalogists. She is also the physician liaison to the Vermont-Oxford Neonatal Network. She has a special interest in cardio-pulmonary diseases in newborn infants and perinatal asphyxia. Dr. Duenas provides full general pediatrics and subspecialty care.



Deepak G. Patel, MD

Dr. Patel is board certified in Pediatrics and Neonatal/Perinatal Medicine and currently serves as Chief of Neonatology at St. John Macomb Hospital. Dr. Patel graduated from BJ Medical College and Gujarat University in Gujarat, India. He completed his Pediatric residency at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan and his fellowship in Neonatal/Perinatal Medicine at Metro Health Center in Cleveland, Ohio. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Society of Michigan Neonatalogists.



Ali Rabbani, MD
Hospital Privileges: St. John Hospital and Medical Center, St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital
Dr. Rabbani is board certified in Pediatrics and Neonatal/Perinatal Medicine. He graduated from University of Tehran Medical School in Iran. Active in the academic community, he is a clinical associate professor of Pediatrics at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan and a clinical associate professor at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri. Over 35 years ago, he developed the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St. John Hospital, which was one of the first of its kind and continues to be one of the best in the state. He is currently the Chief of Pediatrics and Section Chief of Pediatric Neonatology at St. John Hospital & Medical Center, as well as the section director for the NICU. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Perinatal Association of Michigan, the Michigan State Medical Society, the Wayne County Medical Society, the American Medical Association and the Perinatal Association of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Rabbani was recognized by his peers as one of Metro Detroit's most respected pediatricians in Hour Detroit magazine's annual "Top Docs" rankings in 2008.



Nicholas C. Relich, MD
Hospital Privileges: St. John Hospital and Medical Center, St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital
Dr. Relich is board certified in Pediatrics, Neonatal/Perinatal Medicine, and Pediatric Apnea. He graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Michigan Association of Apnea Professionals, the Detroit Society of Neonatologists and the Society of Michigan Neonatologists. He is the Co-Director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the Director of the Pediatric Apnea Program at St. John Hospital and Medical Center.
