The Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders (PDMD) Clinic at St. John Hospital offers patients access to an expert team of movement disorder specialists who work together to evaluate and develop individual treatment plans. These experts believe that a patient’s quality of life can be enhanced when they fully understand their diagnosis and treatment options.
During one carefully coordinated visit, patients will be seen by the following specialists:
neurologist — a physician specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the central and peripheral nervous systems and the neuromuscular system.
rehabilitation therapists — including a physical therapist, occupational therapist and a speech and language pathologist.
physiatrist — a physician specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation
St. John Hospital also provides state-of-the art neurodiagnostic testing. Patients who require neurodiagnostic tests will be able to receive them during this visit, as well.
The specialists at the PDMD Clinic meet immediately following each patient's visit to discuss and develop a treatment plan. The patient and their primary care physician can expect a recommendation within five business days of the visit.
The PDMD Clinic does not provide follow-up care. As a consultative service, the goal of this clinic is to work in partnership with the patient and their primary care physician. However, referrals will be provided as necessary to a neurosurgeon or other specialist.
Patients may be referred by their physician or may self-refer. Most insurances are accepted. For an appointment or for more information, please call the Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Clinic at (313) 343-3073, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
