Our renovation projectThe Emergency Center renovation was the culmination of a $163 million expansion project at St. John Hospital and Medical Center (SJH&MC), and included the Van Elslander Pavilion and the Emergency Center (EC). Learn more about the Pavilion and its amenities by clicking here. Harley Ellis Devereaux, served as the Architect for the project, and Skanska LS Brinker was Construction Manager.
The project was proposed back in June of 2004, with work beginning in February of 2005. Work was complete on the Van Elslander Pavilion and 144 new private patient rooms in September 2007.
Work then began full force on the Emergency Center, which was the last piece in the construction puzzle because numerous areas had to be relocated to make space for the EC, which nearly doubled in size.
