Working in conjunction with Providence Hospital: Southfield
The Adult Day Health Center, a cooperative effort of Providence Hospital and Medical Centers and the City of Southfield, is designed for adults (of any age) who are not capable of independent living but who do not require 24-hour care.
The program addresses the needs of the whole person, physical, emotional, spiritual and social. It provides a loving and caring environment with activities that keep participants mentally and physically active and stimulated. Our staff of skilled professionals, headed by a registered nurse, promotes and encourages the utmost in independence and interaction for participants. An organized plan of supervised events and activities, such as music therapy, day trips, and exercise, addresses the needs of participants while offering respite to families and caregivers. A noon meal and snacks are provided. The program offers medication management and incontinence assistance as needed. In addition, personal grooming services are available, including on-site showers, shaving and beauty and barber services. Podiatry clinic, outreach clinic, dental clinic, occupational, physical and speech therapy are other services accessible through the Adult Day Health Center.
Prior to enrollment in the program, we conduct an individual assessment to determine the needs of each participant. The small fee charged for the assessment will be deducted from the first week’s tuition if the participant is accepted into the program. Once a person is accepted into the program, the Center requires a set schedule of days and times for his or her attendance. The program operates Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
