Goal of Program
The goal of St. John Health's (SJH) Outpatient Neurological Rehabilitation Program is to provide an interdisciplinary treatment service to maximize functional recovery for patients with a broad range of neurological impairments.

Therapy Services
Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech-Language Pathology services are offered at SJH Outpatient Neurological Rehabilitation Sites. Therapists are specialized in treating patients with neurological diagnoses and employ a team approach to treatment planning and goal setting. Treatment methods will include traditional as well as new and creative evidence-based approaches. Each 45-minute treatment session will be conducted one-on-one with your therapist. Some of the specific therapy services available include:

Balance and postural retraining.

Gait retraining including instruction in the use of assistive devices for walking.

Body weight-supported gait training.
-
Neuromuscular electrical stimulation to facilitate functional movement.
-
Training in the use of assistive devices for activities of daily living (grooming, dressing, cooking).

Treatment to improve communication, memory and problem solving skills.
-
Interventions focused on life role, community and work reintegration.

Treatment to improve oral weakness and swallowing.

With a prescription from your doctor for therapy services, appointments to start treatment in The Outpatient Neurological Program can be made by calling one the numbers listed above. For your convenience, patients with multiple therapies will have their appointments scheduled back to back.
